These are some of the reasons, but this week I realized another that I really hadn't given much thought to. The MEDIA!
As I read the Patriot, the Sentinel, and the Area Auto Racing News, I felt sorry for Jason Fry. The guy gets his first ever win and I was hard pressed to find anything about it. I think the racing reporters have given up on us!!! They consider us second class racing! When we were at the Spring, the reporters were there and wrote great articles about our divisions and gave us great coverage, but those days are gone. Now on Saturday nights they take up residence at Lincoln, the Port or tSeilensgrove, and even if we are racing one of those tracks, we barely get a mention.
How can we attract fans if the public never hears anything about us? Why have those who once wrote about us, abandoned us? Oh, they would probably rather go see the 410's and 358's race......but reporting is not supposed to be about what a reporter prefers, but rather to report what is happening and to give fair and even coverage to all aspects or the area they are reporting on.
The only guys who gives us any respect are Brian Miller of PA Posse racing, but that's just on the net and the general public doesn't even know about it, and Stephen Bubb with his article in the AARN, but if he writes about something else, as he did this week, try to find much mention anywhere else in that publication.
I'm calling you out......reporters for the Patriot, Sentinel, and AARN, The Saturday Night Series is alive and well! Give all forms of racing coverage. Come and check us out and give us some ink! Be 'Fair and Balanced', like you're supposed to be!!!
Well, there it is.....now the problem is, they probably don't read a message board dedicated to our divisions either!!
