Kevin, you are correct, he doesn't owe us fans anything, however, since he wrote about it, then I guess it is up for discussion. Sometimes your posting
smacks as though you know everything about every race team...YOU DON'T. So, my opinion is just as valid as yours.

I don't mind answering "Cornerman's" question. It's very simple; I was trying to help a friend go racing. It wasn't a matter of
business, it was a matter of friendship. And for the record, I'm not just starting out in business, I've been in business for years. I was fully aware
that my efforts would not result in any great rewards. I didn't actually expect this deal to result in so much criticism from people who don't even
know the facts either, but I guess that's just the nature of the business. As they say: "No good deed goes unpunished." For what it's worth,
there will be no more free work in the future. It's not because I have lost my desire to help friends or I am looking for huge profits, it's just not
worth the aggravation and negative press when things don't work out as planned. Regards... Scott

Scott,
As an engine builder, past and present, I can fully understand your position. I don't think most people understand the time it takes to pick components, check clearances, etc. And if you need to rely on someone to do machine work that also can take time. I have seen many times where a customer wanted an engine put together with minimal money and junk parts, you do them a favor, it comes unglued, and you are the worst person in the world. Even if you told them it would happen. This has happened to all of the top guys (kriner, brown, ott, rider, etc.) and happens to us as well. Keep up the good fight! |
