2009 Rule Changes |
Lead | |
|
I spoke to Alan Kreitzer last night at
Lincoln. I asked him about the 2009 season rule changes. We will be able to run a standard weight rear aluminum axles. NO LIGHT WEIGHT AXLES however the
standard weight Axles will be allowed to run. Then I asked the question of aluminum rear wheels. And he said " I'm open to that also, If he has
enough teams that want to do it then we should move towards that direction. Cause sooner or later we are going to have to go that route." As for our
steel wheels we have now..... We would either scrap them or just sell them off to teams in other classes. We can pick up used Aluminum wheels from the 410
teams at the end of the year. The wheel rule needs to be decided by the Flea Market.
He asked me how much weight I had to add to the car I was helping for this year. I told him I
felt like the weight is fine. When I was with MCR we didn't have to add any weight to the cars to make weight. And when helping Phil Griffith didn't
have to add any weight there either. I told him I felt like the weight rule was pretty good where it is right now.
Aluminum Rear Wheels for 2009 (Total Votes: 10) - ClosedYes (5 / 50%) No (5 / 50%) |

For someone that doesn't own or drive a sportsman you sure aren't bashful about sticking your nose into matters that you have no business in. How many
aluminum wheels have you purchased lately?

Like it or not it's coming to that, If it's this year (2009) or the year after sooner of later it will happen. So yes I will stick my nose into matters to SAVE MY CAR OWNER MONEY ahead of time. Just like those who bought that stupid axle last year. Now what? They get to eat them huh? It's time for some things in this class to be upgraded. Rear Axles and Wheels should of been done a long time ago. If I bend a wheel I can call up Kreizer Wheel and get what I need and want. So Old Timer save your bullshyt for someone else,Cause I don't want to hear it. We are heading into 2009 if you want to race like you was back in the mid 80's that's fine with me my friend. |

i think allowing sprint axles are the way to go and i think we need to get with the times and allow teams to run power steering if they want make it opional
. i know for a fact that alot of the guys were totally wore out after the 100 lapper .remember people we are in 2009 u can buy a atv with power steering why
not allow them in are sportsman u can buy a steel power steering for 450 to 500 heck u have that in are boxes u run not and the steel boxes wont bend the
shafts like u do o n the ones like we run now. and as for the wheel i say leave them the same

What Griff has posted may or may not happen, but I have not been told of any changes yet! I'd wait a little more before I'd run out and buy new axels!
There are still many teams with concerns of the strength of these axels running the speeds we run at the Grove! Mr. Bunker we are in no way even considering
power steering!

i cant understand why its such a big deal not to allow super sportsman to run power steering. its not going to make u faster it will allow guys like dylan to be able to race hard against guy since when i talked to him and asked him why he didnt run the 100 is because the main reason being he couldnt have made it the whole race. because he would be to tired .u can buy everything for power steering for what we have to pay for a new steering box we run now. so mike maybe u should help the guys out alittle and try to get this how much longer do u think guys like ike are going to be wheeling the cars with out power steering.as for the axle i think thats a good idea.i would also make some sort of hans mandatory so are drivers are safer. |

Spoke to Alan for quite awhile last night and he said that NO rule changes have been made yet! The standard rear sprint axels may be allowed ( maybe). The
aluminum wheels will most likely not be allowed! We are not 358 sprint cars and one of several things that make us different is the lack of power steering and
we will stay that way! One way radio's will most likely be mandatory for all divisions next year!

Ike Frankie and Fannasy already have 358 sprints, might as well take the sportsman that direction then maybe the Saturday show would grow rather then decline.

Ike and Fannasy has their own 358's, but Frankie drives for someone. Plus, Fannasy is the only one who has been racing in the 358's each week. I
don't think Ike has run his for some time. Sooo, they are not hurting the sportsman class by having their own 358's.

So when the rules come out that we can run the axle then I guess you can say I didn't know what I was talking about the whole time then RIGHT? |

buying and racing a 358 would be awesome for alot of these drivers in our class.....BUT THE PAYOUT TO WIN AND BACK THROUGH IS GARBAGE!!! had to say that...the
rear axel that Winters built weighs more then the steel one we run now...although they r to be bringing out a new style here soon...but i guess only time will
tell
