Why am I an idiot please explain. They want to award a race team/driver for an accomplishment why does the grove being rude to them on the phone have to stop them from doing what they wanted to do? I give money and time to teams all the time and dont have to post about it on an mb. If I decided I wanted to do a prettiest car award and give them $150 and a plaque I could do that without telling the grove. You have to go through grove management to give money and an award to teams? Who said you have to do it at the banquet? If it is about the drivers then make it about the drivers. Give them the award plaque and money at the last race, get your publicity through the message boards. If fans and drivers are pumped up they will find you. Do what you have to do, you all seem like smart people to me if its really about the drivers and not about you, you shouldnt mind not getting the publicity...

I agree with you speedster. There are plenty of other awards we could give. I think I can safely speak for OW here too, to give another award to the drivers is exactly what he wanted to do. The problem is that BMOTB was going to find out if we could do that, and there has still been no answer as to if we could.

And as for my crying about it, Mike made a comment about this on another post and I was only responding to it.

Newsflash you started this to have a rookie of the year award correct? Now the track is funding a rookie of the year award that means mission accomplished does it not? Stop whining the point is helping the racers it shouldnt be about you. You guys are so caught up in having your name and your award out there that it has gone from making an award for the racers to essentially making an award for you. My opinion is what you all did last year was great and now we have a rookie of the year...

I haven't seen anything new on the award subject so I'm guessing it's a done deal and you're no longer welcomed to honor the rookies. Have you considered reviving the sportsmanship award? I believe that was dropped once we left the Springs, also. As I remember it, the drivers nominated a fellow driver that they thought demonstrated the best in sportsmanship throughout the season. Maybe you could run with that but if you drop the whole Open Wheel award idea I...

That is a bummer - all the time and effort you and Kimmiee put into the ROY award. But it seems that the work you guys did was greatly appreciated. Rookies should be compensated for their efforts each year. I heard your trophies were really, really nice too.

OW and Kimmiee did a wonderful job last year and all the work is deeply appreciated! I must say in Mike I think you took the pay comment the wrong way! You asked me to talk to Justin about the night of the giveaway and I did just that! Justin really knew nothing of what you guys really did last year! Remember Justin was on the sprint car side of the banquet. He asked me all kinds of question as to what was done last year and I told him t-shirts and other gifts were donated by teams and fans...

Open wheel.....That sucks.... But just to let you know I and I'm sure everyone else appreciates all the work Kimmie and yourself did last year....It was a good thing...its a shame that the first thing to come out of someones mouth was how much you made. Anyone with common sense knows it wasn't about you making money but a few getting what they deserve..If i were to win the award...Id be sure at the banquet to tell them they may keep their trophy....
